Accreditation

The American Association of Museums announced recently that The Whaling Museum in Cold Spring Harbor has been awarded accreditation.

This distinguished honor follows a rigorous two year process of application and review.

The Whaling Museum joins a prestigious group of museums in the United States whose participation in accreditation reflects commitment to excellence and public service.

The Whaling Museum Society was founded in 1936 and has enthusiastically served the public and its students for these 70 years.  The Museum remains not only a destination for local residents, but for many national and international visitors as well.
