COLD SPRING HARBOR, NY

Events & exhibits
for all ages, all year!

Jr. Marine Biologist Overnight

Start Time:
Please arrive at 6:30 pm Saturday evening.

End time:
9:00 am on Sunday morning

Order of Activities
6:30 - 7:00 Arrival, Pizza Dinner
7:00-9:30 - Fun games, tag, experiments, and crafts exploring the ocean!
9:30 - Change into pajamas, set up sleeping spaces
9:45 - Evening snack and Movie
11:00 - Lights Out!
8:30 - Good Morning and Breakfast (Bagels and Donuts)
9:00 - Head Home

What kinds of food will we eat?
Dinner consists of cheese pizza, and a choice of soda, juice, or water to drink.  We serve 1.5 slices per child for dinner, and 2 slices per adult. We will have other evening snacks available for you, such as cookies and pretzels. Breakfast is a bagel sandwich (plain with some assorted) with different spreads (butter, cream cheese, and jelly).  We make all efforts to stay away from serving food products containing peanuts. Please let us know in advance about any vegetarian/vegan/kosher requests.

Where do we sleep?
Right in the galleries! That’s the fun part! Feel free to choose your own nook to sleep in. You'll be sleeping on a hard, carpeted floor, so it's not going to be the best sleep in your life, but it should be memorable!

Will museum staff be there the whole night?
Of course - a museum staff member will be on site the entire time.
If you are dropping off your child and need to reach a staff member during the night hours, please call 917-710-1504, or 631-367-3418 x16 or x14.

What should we bring with us?
Bring with you:
·         An indoor sleeping bag or air mattress.
·         Pillow
·         Pajamas
·         Change of clothes for the morning
·         Personal toiletries such as toothbrush, toothpaste, and hairbrush
·         Flashlight (fun, but optional)
·         An empty, reusable water bottle or cup (which we will happily fill for you)

Clothes…Wear comfortable, art-friendly clothes to the museum. Dress in layers - some people find us chilly, some people find us warm.

Do parents have to stay?
No, it's optional. They can either take the night off and be back in the morning, or stay with us (and have fun, of course).

What should we leave at home?
Cots, hair dryers, curling irons, alarm clocks (we’ll take care of that!), nail polish, electronic toys, or unnecessary money. Bringing snacks from home is fine, but please refrain from bringing foods that contain actual peanuts.

If you have allergies, especially a food allergy, please call us ahead of time so we can make arrangements for you.

Yep, we're coming to the overnight!
