We stopped in while visiting family in the area. What a great little museum on whaling on Long Island. The scrimshaw pieces they have are fantastic, they even have an example of scrimshaw on baleen. The kids had a great time and they usually have fun activities for kids going on too. The staff are great. It's worth the stop for an hour or so." Have visited Cold Spring Harbor many times but never the Whaling Museum. Our 8 year old niece suggested a visit. She and her 5 yo sister had a wonderful time doing the crafts, doing puzzles, looking for certain items on display, and pretending to be on a ship, and problem solving. Plenty of information about whaling in the community and local history as well. Small gift shop with very reasonably priced items for all ages. Definitely worth a visit." |
