JURIED ART EXHIBIT
Calling All Local Artists:
Be a Part of Our 85th Anniversary Celebration
Regional artists and craftspeople in all media are invited to participate in 10x10x85, a juried exhibition celebrating The Whaling Museum's 85th Anniversary.
WHO: Open to artists 18+ years of age
WHAT: Original oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolors, prints, drawings, photography and mixed media.
HOW: All works to be created on or mounted on 10x10 canvas (included with entry fee). All works are judged on an equal and anonymous basis.
ENTRY FEE: $20 (includes free 10x10 canvas to be picked up at museum)
ENTRY DEADLINE: September 15, 2021
EXHIBIT DATES: October 5- December 31, 2021
SUBJECT: Find a creative way to interpret or incorporate "85" (or 8 or 5) into your piece: 85 year old object in still life? Infinity? 5 person portrait? The finished work must use the 10 x 10 canvas as a base and be able to be hung on a wall, but beyond that, let your imagination soar!
JURORS: Award-winning painter and former art educator Margaret Minardi and watercolorist and art educator Elizabeth Fusco.
DETAILS: 10x10x85 will feature creative works using a 10x10 inch canvas provided by the museum as a starting point. From there you can paint directly on the canvas, affix a watercolor or photograph to it, create a mixed media piece, assemblage, build a sculpture on it….get inspired!
All works will be on sale for $100 each during the exhibition period. There will be a 50/50 split on proceeds with the artist, unless the artist would like to donate 100% of the sale to the museum. All funds raised will support museum education programming.
PICK UP/DROP OFF: All works must be delivered to the museum no later than September 15 to be considered for entry. Works not chosen for exhibit may be picked up October 1-16 at the museum. Winning entries will be on display October 5-December 31.
