Take a Walk Down to the Harbor With Us

Cold Spring Harbor offers a charming view as a quintessential 19th century microcosmic whaling village. 

We invite both locals and visitors from afar to travel back in time to the Whaling Era and stroll down Cold Spring Harbor’s Historic Main Street in our educator-led, themed walking tours. Tours are offered Spring & Fall (registration below). 

• All tours, except ​Stories in Stone, meet at the Museum's gallery. You may use free street parking by the museum (279 Main Street), or use the free Main Street parking lot a 5-minute walk away (located 90-126 Main Street, next to the Cold Spring Harbor Post Office.) If you park by the lot, your return walk back to the museum will be shorter. 
• ​Wear comfortable walking shoes. Tour lasts approximately 45 min-1hour.
• Bring an umbrella in case of light rain.

Tours are held in light rain or shine. Tickets are nonrefundable unless the event is cancelled by the museum.

Cozy up with a cup of hot cocoa and join us for a walk through our quaint, waterside village to explore the surprising Victorian origins of many modern holiday traditions. View historic buildings along Main Street and discover how local families gathered for Thanksgiving, made merry at Christmas, and rang in the New Year - and how those celebrations would have been very different for whalers out at sea! Recommended for ages 12+ .
