General FAQs



Special Notes for Summer Camp 2014

Every Camp Week....
-          Lasts 9:30-1:00 pm, with an extended-day option until 2 pm.
-          Can be attended for one day, or every day.
-          Includes snack.  We typically serve pretzels/party mixes and juice.
-          Includes lots of art-making.
-          Includes outdoor time, when appropriate.
-          Usually includes a Sprinkler Day, dependent on good weather! Stay tuned!
-          May include visits from live animals.
-          May include a trip to the harbor, depending on good weather and low tide agreeing. Stay tuned!


Your Camper Will Need:
-          To Bring Lunch.
-          To Bring a water bottle.
-          To have fully applied sunscreen before coming to camp.
-          To wear art-friendly clothes.


Summer Camp 2014 Dates & Themes

ArtLab!
Mon-Thurs, June 30-July 3
For students entering 2rd-6th grade, CITs entering 7th grade+
Welcome to our ArtLab – where crazy science and zany art rule! We will take inspiration from amazing ocean wonders around the world and get wild with paper mache, chromatography, scrimshaw, creative painting techniques, and sticky art. Campers will leave their permanent mark as they paint the museum’s new outdoor mural!

Ocean Explorers Camp
Mon-Fri, July 7-11 For students entering K-3rd grade, Crew Leaders entering 4th and 5th grade, 
CITs entering 7th grade+
Sharks! Squid! Deep Sea! Join our most favorite camp of all time for budding marine biologists! Have a blast exploring the marvelous world of sea creatures through experiments, outdoor play, running games, and plenty of arts and crafts. There may be some live animal visits along the way!

Sailor Boot Camp
Mon-Fri, July 21-25
For students entering K-3rd grade, Crew Leaders entering 4th and 5th grade, CITs entering 7th grade+
Welcome Aboard, all lads and lasses! Join our crew and have fun learning about life at sea. Create Hard Tack biscuits, touch real ship artifacts, carve scrimshaw, design boat shapes and see what sinks, check out signal flags, and create a ship-in-a-bottle.

Scientist for a Day!
Mon-Fri, August 18-21
For students entering 2-6th grade, CITs entering 7th grade+
Explore the different fields of science and become Biologists, Paleontologists, Chemists, Mammalogists, and Speleologists. Make an erupting volcano, explore human biology, investigate bones, touch fossils, create exploding fizzy experiments, and more through crafts and games. There may be some live animal visits along the way!

World Explorers
Mon-Fri, Aug 25-28
For students entering K-3rd grade, Crew Leaders entering 4th and 5th grade, CITs entering 7th grade+
Calling all brave adventurers! Sail with us around the world and learn about faraway places on our journeys, from the frigid Arctic to tropical lagoons. Discover unusual animals, myths, sounds, and different cultures from around the globe through games, scavenger hunts, and arts and crafts. Bon Voyage!
